Allie Haze
Allie Haze in the documentary Aroused
In 2013, Haze discussed Aroused with William Bibbiani. Her answers described the introduction to Deborah Anderson and the atmosphere of the production.
An introduction to Deborah Anderson
A mutual friend introduced Haze to Anderson after her Emmanuelle work. Anderson explained a documentary project that would combine portraits with conversations about the participants.
Haze was interested in being asked about her experience as a person. She said many professional interviews concentrated on a particular film rather than the people who made it.
Conversation during the shoot
Haze described Anderson as both director and photographer. She said the crew took an interest in what she was saying and continued asking questions after the camera stopped recording.
That response helped shape her memory of the production. She emphasized the working atmosphere and the opportunity to talk about her life while being photographed.
Seeing the finished film
By the May 2013 interview, Haze had seen Aroused. Asked whether it had changed from the initial explanation, she said she thought Anderson had kept the original intention.
She understood the documentary as bringing parts of different lives together. Her comments describe how she experienced the project as one of its participants.
